Federal Government Shutdown – Travel Disruptions

Caution

Country: USA

Location: Nationwide (Airports, National Parks, Tourism Sites)

The US federal government has entered a shutdown after lawmakers failed to reach a spending deal. While flights will continue operating, travel disruptions are expected. Passengers may experience longer airport security lines, delays, and potential cancellations due to staffing shortages at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and among air traffic controllers, who are required to work without pay. Additional impacts include the closure of US National Parks, such as the Grand Canyon, and financial losses across the tourism and hospitality industries.   Advice: - Arrive at airports earlier than usual to account for longer security lines. - Expect possible delays and cancellations; monitor airline apps and airport advisories. - Reconsider visits to US National Parks and federally funded attractions, which may be closed during the shutdown. - Monitor updates from the US Department of Transportation and your airline for real-time changes.
