Workers to strike at multiple airports on September 26

Ground workers, as well as Wizz Air and Volotea airlines in Italy, have called a strike in the aviation industry to protest working conditions and low wages. The strike will last 24 hours on September 26 and will affect domestic and international flights throughout Italy. Airports affected by the strike: Milan (Linate and Malpensa), Rome (Fiumicino and Ciampino), Bologna, Bergamo, Catania, Cagliari, Palermo, Turin, Verona, Reggio Calabria, Salerno, Lamezia Terme, Crotone, Cuno, Pantelleria, regional airports in Tuscany, as well as Venice, Varese, and other regional airports. Typhoon Ragasa made landfall in Yangjiang, Guangdong, bringing torrential rain, destructive winds, and storm surges. More than 2 million people were evacuated as red alerts were issued for coastal flooding, with waves forecast up to 2.8 meters. In Hong Kong, storm surges battered eastern districts such as Heng Fa Chuen, where waves crashed into seawalls and flooded streets. Flights were cancelled, schools and businesses closed, and widespread flooding and wind damage disrupted life across the region. Officials warn of continued risks from inland flooding and landslides as the storm moves further into southern China.   Advice: - Avoid low-lying coastal and riverside areas in Guangdong and Hong Kong. - Do not travel unless absolutely necessary in flood-prone zones. - Stay indoors away from windows; secure any loose outdoor objects. - Follow evacuation orders and local emergency broadcasts. - Stay clear of beaches, seawalls, and waterfront promenades due to dangerous waves.
