Government authorities have issued the highest-level heatwave warnings across Seoul, Incheon, Sejong, Daejeon, Gwangju, & provinces of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, North Jeolla, South Jeolla, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang as of this morning. Hotspots in the country are currently experiencing daily peak temperatures above 35°C, with some areas, such as Gangneung, recording highs of up to 38.7 °C.   Advice: - Stay indoors during peak heat (10 AM-5 PM): seek air-conditioned or shaded environments in cities and rural areas. - Stay hydrated: Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. - Limit outdoor exertion: postpone strenuous activities, walks, or sightseeing until cooler hours. - Prepare for power stress and outages: charge devices, have backup batteries, and use cooling strategies.

A 5.3-magnitude offshore earthquake struck approximately 45km (27 miles) south of Port Vila, at a depth of 10km (6.2 miles) at around 17:16 local time (06:16 GMT). There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and a tsunami warning was not issued.   Advice: - Tsunami potential exists for all offshore quakes- relocate to higher ground away from the coast for the next several hours as a precaution. - Stay alert to official notices from Vanuatu’s National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and regional monitoring centers. - Manage aftershock risk: expect possible tremors, secure loose items, and maintain readiness to move to elevated zones.
