On June 17, 2025, Northern Ireland experienced a second consecutive night of violent unrest in Derry/Londonderry. Around 30 masked youths gathered near Orchard Row and Nailors Row, launching petrol bombs, fireworks, and masonry at police officers. This follows similar disturbances on June 16, during which three officers were injured. Tactical units and canine teams were deployed by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to control the situation. Two teenage suspects, including a 13-year-old, have been arrested in connection with the ongoing disorder. Utility company Air‑e will conduct scheduled maintenance at multiple substations, including Malambo and Río Magdalena, on June 17, between 07:00 and 17:00 local time. Local media report shaking felt in Lima following an apparent earthquake, one day after a magnitude 6.1 quake struck just off the city’s coast. The India Meteorological Department has issued red alerts in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, where intense monsoon rains have triggered floods, landslides, and caused at least three deaths with two people still missing. Authorities report that uprooted trees, submerged roads, power outages, and rising water levels are affecting multiple dams across the region.   Advice: - Avoid All Non-Essential Travel as roadblocks, flash floods, and landslides may occur with little warning - Plan Alternate Routes and use verified traffic sources for road conditions - Stay Away from Rivers and Hill Slopes as water levels may rise quickly and terrain can be unstable - Have Emergency Supplies Ready including water, food, medication, and fuel - Monitor Updates via https://mausam.imd.gov.in  

Mozambican health authorities declared a cholera outbreak in Marromeu district after identifying 32 confirmed cases and 3 deaths within two weeks. This follows ongoing seasonal outbreaks largely affecting northern and central regions, including Sofala, with nearly 3,900 cases and 59 fatalities reported nationally since October 2024.   Advice: - Make sure you are vaccinated against Cholera. - Practice good hygiene; wash your hands with soap and clean water, especially before eating and after using the restroom. - Drink only boiled or treated water. From June 18 to 20, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and civil society groups will hold a demonstration at Romanat Square in Mekelle, Tigray. The primary demand is the unconditional return of individuals forcibly displaced from Western Tigray following years of conflict.   Advice: - Avoid Romanat Square and adjacent roads between 12:00 and 18:00 local time, June 18–20, to minimize disruption and ensure safety. - Plan alternate routes; expect traffic slowdowns near the protest area, use alternate paths, and allow extra travel time. - Be aware of large crowds gathering at this gathering point; maintain personal space and avoid photo-taking without permission. - In the event of unrest, leave the area calmly and follow instructions from local law enforcement.  

Finnair is canceling approximately 143 flights on June 17, following a four-hour strike initiated by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU). The strike will impact essential ground handling functions and catering services throughout the day, affecting around 6,500 passengers. Further strikes are planned for June 19.   Advice: - Check flight status before heading to the airport. Yesterday, on June 15, the iron footbridge over the Indrayani River collapsed in Kundamala, carrying over 100 people and several two-wheelers. The collapse resulted in four confirmed fatalities and over 50 injuries. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local authorities conducted rescue operations.   Advice: - Avoid the site: Refrain from traveling to Kundamala and nearby river access points until authorities declare it safe. - Use designated paths: Do not cross unsafe or unofficial footbridges. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 10:15 PM EDT, June 15, 2025, across parts of southern Maryland and northern Virginia. Heavy rainfall has triggered dangerous flood conditions in urban and low-lying areas. Approximately 330,525 residents are within the affected zone.
