More than 100 protesters gathered outside the Bell Hotel in Epping, Essex, believed to be housing asylum seekers, with some chanting “save our kids” and holding signs demanding deportation of foreign criminals. The demonstration, the latest in a series, follows the charging of a 38-year-old asylum seeker with sexual assault. Essex Police deployed vans and officers to block the hotel entrance, facing protesters, some wearing balaclavas. On Thursday, a similar protest turned violent, injuring eight officers, with Keith Silk, 33, charged with violent disorder and criminal damage. He is in custody and will appear in court on July 21. Greece’s National Public Health Organization (EODY) has issued a cautionary alert after five tourists reportedly suffered suspected food poisoning, which is linked to meat purchased from an unlicensed food stall. On July 19, around 2:00 a.m., a vehicle drove into a crowd near a music venue on West Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, injuring at least 30 people.
