Health authorities in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, have reported an outbreak of chikungunya fever, with over 1,200 confirmed cases to date. The mosquito-borne viral disease, which is uncommon in the region, was first detected as an imported case in Shunde District on July 8 and has since spread to multiple towns. In response, local officials have launched intensive mosquito control efforts. Due to the outbreak's scale, neighboring areas, including Hong Kong and Macau, have issued heightened health alerts. Common symptoms of chikungunya include fever, severe joint pain, muscle aches, rash, and nausea.   Advice: - Remove standing water from containers, drains, rooftops, and courtyards to reduce mosquito breeding grounds. - Use mosquito nets, insect repellents, and wear long-sleeved clothing. - Keep indoor and outdoor areas clean and dry to help prevent mosquito infestation. - Monitor your health for at least 12 days after visiting affected areas, and seek medical attention if you experience symptoms such as fever, joint pain, or rash. - Stay updated through official guidance from local health authorities.  

Heavy rainfall brought by Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat) has caused flooding in multiple parts of Metro Manila today, July 19. The Philippine Weather Services placed the region under a yellow rainfall warning, indicating that 7.5 to 15 mm of rain is expected within three hours. The storm has since exited the Philippine area, but its effects will continue for the next couple of days.   Advice: - Avoid travel in flood-affected areas of Metro Manila. Many roads are impassable, and attempting to cross can be dangerous. - Refrain from driving through flooded streets, even if water levels appear low. - Stay indoors during ongoing rainfall and monitor for updates, especially in low-lying zones. - Expect localized transport disruptions, especially around major roads like NLEX, EDSA, and Taft Avenue. - Follow real-time alerts from the Philippine Weather Services (https://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/) for the latest warnings and flood updates.  

The government of Trinidad and Tobago has declared a state of public emergency effective July 18, 2025. Anti-immigration protests are scheduled to take place in Warsaw and Kraków on Saturday, July 19. Demonstrators will gather at Dmowski Roundabout and Szymborska Passage in Warsaw between 11:30 and 13:30, and at Stolarska 7 in Kraków from 13:00 to 14:30. Heavy rainfall in northern Thailand has caused flooding and landslides in multiple provinces, particularly Nan, Lampang, Chiang Rai, and Phetchabun. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over most of Thailand over the next 96 hours, with risks of additional flooding and landslides.   Advice: - Avoid travel in flood-affected areas, particularly in northern provinces where conditions remain unstable. - Stay indoors during storms, especially in landslide-prone or low-lying areas. - Do not approach riversides or hillsides, as sudden floods or landslides may occur. - Prepare for transport disruptions, including blocked roads and potential ferry cancellations. - Follow updates from Thailand’s Meteorological Department (tmd.go.th) and local emergency services.  

Severe weather alerts have been issued in Hong Kong and Taiwan from July 18-21 as Tropical Cyclone Wipha approaches. In Taiwan, Wipha will pass south of the island late Friday into Saturday, bringing heavy rain to Hualien, Taitung, and Hengchun, with wave heights up to 5 meters and temperatures reaching 36°C in the north. Hong Kong is experiencing heavy rain, flooding, and traffic disruptions, with warnings possibly being upgraded. From Saturday to Monday, heavy showers, thunderstorms, and rough seas are expected in Hong Kong and southern China.   Advice: - Avoid coastal zones and low-lying areas in Hong Kong and Taiwan due to flash flood and storm surge risks. - Secure outdoor items and remain indoors during peak storm periods; prepare for flooding, power outages, and travel disruption. - Travelers should monitor transport advisories for delays or cancellations in flights, buses, ferries, and rail services. - Monitor real-time alerts from HKO https://www.hko.gov.hk/en/index.html. - In case of emergency, contact 999 in Hong Kong or 119 in Taiwan, and move to higher ground if flooding occurs.  

Météo-France has issued red-level wildfire warnings for July 17 in the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse due to extreme fire risk conditions intensified by strong Mistral and Tramontane winds (gusting up to 70 km/h).
