Over the past few days, central-southern India, particularly Telangana State, has experienced heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning, leading to flash floods, mudslides, and severe weather-related incidents. Additionally, several roads in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, have been blocked due to waterlogging. ​ According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall is expected across Telangana from April 8 to 13, with a yellow weather warning issued for April 8 in nine districts: Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda. ​   Advice: - Avoid affected areas and postpone non-essential travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.​ - If you must go out, check road conditions and travel arrangements, as many disruptions and delays have been reported. Do not attempt to cross flooded streets or landslide-prone zones. - Ensure essential devices are charged in case of power outages. - Regularly monitor updates from the IMD (https://mausam.imd.gov.in/) and local authorities regarding weather conditions and follow any advisories issued. - Be cautious of waterborne diseases that may arise post-flooding; ensure access to clean drinking water and maintain hygiene practices.  

Local authorities have issued an evacuation order for at least 1,534 residents in the Matsuyama-cho area of Gotō City, Nagasaki Prefecture, due to a forest fire that erupted during the afternoon of April 7. Emergency services are actively working to contain the blaze, and affected individuals are being directed to designated evacuation centers. The fire's proximity to residential zones poses significant risks, and additional evacuations may be mandated if conditions deteriorate.​   Advice: - Adhere promptly to evacuation orders and directives from local authorities to ensure personal safety.​ - Reduce exposure to smoke and potential airborne pollutants by staying indoors and keeping windows closed.​ - Steer clear of the Matsuyama-cho area and surrounding regions to prevent hindering emergency operations and for personal safety.​ - Confirm the status of local transportation, as services may be disrupted due to road closures or emergency measures.​ - Regularly monitor local news outlets and official channels for updates on the fire's status and further instructions.​  

Following heavy rainfall from April 4 to 5, at least 30 people have died in Kinshasa due to flooding. Many victims drowned or were killed by collapsing structures. The N1 National Road, connecting central Kinshasa to the airport, has been severely disrupted, leaving vehicles submerged and residents using canoes to navigate the streets.   Advice: - Avoid travel in affected areas and along the N1 National Road until conditions improve. - Residents should seek higher ground and avoid entering floodwaters due to drowning, injury, or structural collapse risks. - Coordinate with local services and monitor official updates from health authorities and media outlets such as ACP and RTNC. - In emergencies, contact 112 for rescue or evacuation support. - Travelers should postpone non-essential travel in and around Kinshasa and confirm alternative routes with transportation providers.  

Health officials have confirmed the death of a second child from measles in the southwestern United States amidst an outbreak affecting nearly 650 individuals across 22 states. The unvaccinated child was receiving treatment for complications in a Texas hospital. This marks the second fatality in the outbreak, which has spread to Florida, New York City, and Alaska. Texas reported the first measles-related death in late February, the first in nearly a decade.   Advice: - Ensure your MMR vaccine is up to date to protect against measles. - Avoid close contact with those infected and crowded places. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms like fever, rash, or cough. - Stay updated through local health advisories and the CDC, and review health guidelines if traveling to affected areas.  

Pro-Palestine groups will hold a protest on Tuesday, April 8, at 18:00 local time outside the Israeli Embassy in Brussels. Organized by Brussels Against Genocide, the demonstration aims to condemn Israeli military actions. Large crowds are expected, which may cause delays or access restrictions.   Advice: - Avoid the vicinity of The Israeli Embassy during the protest to reduce exposure to potential disruptions. - Anticipate a visible police presence and possible road closures or detours in the protest area. - Remain alert and refrain from engaging with protesters or counter-protesters.  

Pro-Palestinian activists are organizing a demonstration at the University of Melbourne on Tuesday, April 8, at 12:30 local time. The protest is in response to a scheduled lecture by an Israeli professor and is expected to take place near the venue of the event.   Advice: - Avoid the University of Melbourne campus during the protest to minimize exposure to potential disruptions or confrontations. - Be aware of a potential police or university security presence near the demonstration site. - Expect increased monitoring or online activity surrounding the event, including possible social media campaigns. - Remain vigilant and avoid engaging with protestors or counter-protestors.  

Pro-Palestine activists will protest near the UN headquarters in New York City on Monday, April 7, starting at 16:00. Organized by various pro-Palestine groups, the demonstration aims to denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza over the past 18 months and to express outrage at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent U.S. visit. The protest is expected to draw a large crowd and may cause temporary disruptions near the Israeli Consulate.   Advice: - Avoid the area near the UN Headquarters and the Israeli Consulate during the protest to minimize disruptions. - Expect traffic delays and a strong police presence. - Stay alert and do not engage with protesters. - Additional gatherings may occur outside the Consulate, potentially impacting nearby activities.  

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued a severe weather warning for northern and northeastern regions of Greece, effective from the afternoon of Sunday, April 6, 2025. The forecast predicts heavy rain, thunderstorms, and a significant temperature drop. Specifically, storms are expected to initially impact Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, extending to the northeastern Aegean islands, including Limnos, by nightfall. Snowfall is anticipated in mountainous areas, potentially reaching semi-mountainous regions overnight into Monday (April 7).   Advice: - Residents and travelers in Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the northeastern Aegean islands should remain vigilant due to the potential for flash flooding, reduced visibility, and hazardous travel conditions.​ - Consider postponing or rerouting travel plans to avoid the most severely affected regions, especially during peak storm periods.​ - Ensure essential devices are charged in case of power outages. - Regularly monitor announcements from EMY and local authorities for the latest information on weather developments and any emergency instructions.​
