It has gained significant attention on social media, which may result in a large turnout of participants. The location is easily accessible, with nearby metro stations at O'Donnell and Manuel Becerra. As a result, local transport disruptions and increased security measures are expected in the area.   Advice: Stay clear of the protest area for your safety. Expect transportation disruptions nearby and allow extra time for travel to adjacent locations. Adhere to all local security and traffic instructions. Leave immediately at the first sign of escalation.  

A magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck near Lhasa, China, at 20:57 CST on Jan. 13, with the epicenter 181 km (112 miles) northwest of Darjiling, India, at a depth of 10 km (6 miles). Light shaking was felt in parts of western China, eastern Nepal, western Bhutan, and northeastern India. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received, and significant damage is unlikely. Authorities are assessing the situation, particularly in remote areas, and minor aftershocks are expected. Transport and utility disruptions near the epicenter are possible during safety checks, though services should resume quickly if no damage is detected.   Advice: As a precaution, avoid multistory buildings affected by shaking until authorities verify their safety. Ongoing seismic activity near Ethiopia's Fentale volcanic complex has led to the evacuation of over 78,000 people in the southern Afar and northern Oromia regions. Recent tremors, including a magnitude-5.8 quake on Jan. 4, are linked to magma movement. Significant damage to infrastructure, including homes and a sugar factory, has been reported. Authorities remain concerned about potential dam failure and further disruptions. An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 and a maximum seismic intensity of less than 5 occurred in Hyuga-nada, Miyazaki Prefecture. Authorities have confirmed there is no risk of a tsunami from this event. No injuries or significant damage have been reported at this time.   Advice: Residents are advised to remain alert for potential aftershocks, inspect their surroundings for any signs of minor structural damage, and stay updated on safety advisories and guidance from local authorities.  

All outbound flights from Charleroi Airport have been canceled today due to a significant absenteeism rate among security personnel, driven by a national strike. This situation has affected approximately 40 flights. Airport management made the decision to cancel flights after determining that security operations could not be maintained at the required levels, despite prior assurances from the security company that staffing would be adequate.   Advice: Passengers scheduled to fly from Charleroi Airport are strongly advised to contact their airlines for updates and rebooking options. They should seek alternative travel arrangements as necessary and avoid traveling to the airport unless they have a confirmed alternative in place. Further disruptions and delays may occur throughout the day.  

Protests occurred in Tbilisi and Batumi on January 12, resulting in the detention of up to 20 individuals, including opposition leaders and journalists. Police used special forces and water cannons in Tbilisi to manage unrest near a New Year’s gathering for judges. Further demonstrations are planned across Georgia on January 13, including in Tbilisi (Parliament, Public Broadcaster, Philharmonic), Kutaisi (City Hall), Batumi (Constitutional Court), Zugdidi (Regional Administration), and Telavi (City Hall).   Advice: Avoid protest areas, anticipate transport disruptions, and follow local authorities’ instructions. Unionized workers at Sicily's Palermo (PMO) and Catania-Fontanarossa (CTA) airports plan strikes on Jan. 17, with a 12:00-16:00 walkout by GESAP airport management company staff at PMO and a 24-hour strike by OSP UGL-Trasporto Aero union members. Flight delays, cancellations, and disruptions are likely at both airports, with potential lingering delays after the strikes end. Striking workers may also stage gatherings near the airports.   Advice: Verify flight bookings if traveling through PMO or CTA on Jan. 17. Wind gusts over 100 kph and heavy precipitation may cause flooding, landslides, avalanches, and hazardous travel conditions. Disruptions to air, road, and rail transport and power and telecommunications outages are possible. Recent incidents also include attempted arson and other acts of vandalism at synagogues, raising concerns over escalating antisemitic actions. Authorities are actively investigating these crimes and have urged vigilance.
