Heightened security and disruptions were expected on October 28 in Thessaloniki and Athens due to Oxi Day (national holiday) events. - In Thessaloniki, a Military Parade is scheduled for 11:00 local time along Megalou Alexandrou Avenue. - In Athens, a school parade begins at 11:00 local time on Amalias Avenue, proceeding past the Hellenic Parliament to Panepistimiou Street. Road Closures are expected along Amalias Avenue and surrounding streets during the morning hours.   Advice: - Expect traffic delays and increased police presence on October 28 in city centers in Thessaloniki and Athens during the specified times. - Use Public Transport: Opt for metro or bus services to navigate around road closures. - Plan Ahead: If attending events, arrive early to secure a good spot and be prepared for increased security checks.  

Meteorologists have issued red warnings for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in several districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha due to Cyclone Montha. The cyclone is expected to make landfall near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, in the evening or overnight on October 28. Heavy rainfall is expected across southern/coastal Odisha districts- such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and others- from October 27-29.   Advice: - Avoid non-essential travel in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coastal zones from October 27-30. - Stay indoors during the storm; avoid sheltering under trees or in open areas. - Heavy rain may lead to road flooding. Avoid walking or driving on slippery or flooded roads. - Stay clear of flood zones, mudslide-prone slopes, and fast-flowing streams, even if routes appear passable. - Monitor official IMD updates for weather warnings.  

Opposition presidential candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary has called on supporters nationwide to rally at 15:00 local time today, October 26, to denounce alleged electoral fraud during the October 12 election. Demonstrations are expected to take place in multiple cities.   Advice: - Anticipate protests in major urban centers - avoid downtown areas beginning mid-afternoon. - Avoid political discussion or photographing demonstrations or security forces. - Suspend non-essential movement during the protest window and adjust travel routes, check local partner contacts for updates.  

Meteorological authorities have issued an orange-level warning for heavy rain today in Sofia City, Sofia district, Kyustendil, Pernik, Montana, and Vidin. Simultaneously, yellow-level warnings are in effect for the Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Lovech, Pleven, and Vratsa districts due to forecasted heavy rain.   Advice: - Avoid non-essential travel in affected districts and stay indoors during thunderstorms. Severe flooding continues across southern Vietnam following days of heavy rainfall and record-high river tides. The Mekong Delta has seen water levels surpass historical records in several areas - including Can Tho City, where levels reached 2.33 m, and My Thuan at 2.22 m. In Ho Chi Minh City, tides at Thu Dau Mot reached 1.87 m, exceeding previous highs. Dozens of homes and hundreds of hectares of crops and orchards have been submerged, with several embankment breaches reported. Additional rain and scattered thunderstorms are forecast through Monday, heightening the risk of further flooding in low-lying and coastal areas. Advice: - Avoid non-essential travel in flooded or low-lying regions, especially near rivers, canals, and embankments. - Do not attempt to walk or drive through floodwaters, as currents may be stronger than they appear. - Move valuables and important documents to higher ground and prepare for possible power outages. - Follow instructions from local authorities and monitor updates from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.  

Humid and unstable conditions from Hurricane Melissa and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms across Costa Rica on Sunday, October 26. Morning showers are expected in the Osa and Nicoya Peninsulas, spreading in the afternoon to the Pacific mountains, Central Valley, northern region, and Caribbean coast, with continued rain overnight. Localized flooding, landslides, and travel disruptions are possible, especially in the Pacific and highland areas. Advice: - Avoid coastal areas and unnecessary travel during peak winds. - Expect flight, train, and ferry cancellations. Check status updates before departure. - Stay indoors during the strongest gusts, and secure loose outdoor items. - Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads; use elevated routes when possible. - Follow updates from the Kenya Meteorological Department and local authorities.  

Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay remains open, but may close at any moment. Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston will close from 8:00 PM Saturday due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Melissa. There is no estimate for when flights will resume. Airline Impact: - JetBlue: All flights from Sunday to Monday are canceled. - American Airlines: Kingston flights canceled Sunday; change fees waived for travel Oct 25-27. - Air Canada: Several flights have been canceled, and two extra outbound flights have been added. - Caribbean, Southwest & Cayman Airways: Multiple cancellations through Tuesday. Advice: - Check your flight status with your airline before heading to the airport. - Avoid unnecessary travel to Montego Bay and Kingston airports. - Monitor updates from the Airports Authority of Jamaica and airport websites. - Expect significant flight delays and cancellations through early next week.
