Chilean authorities have issued a red alert for a wildfire in Carahue, Araucanía region, currently burning at least 570 acres. An unidentified illness has killed 53 people and infected 431 as of February 15, according to the World Health Organization. Nearly half of the deaths occurred within 48 hours of symptom onset. Preliminary investigations link the outbreak to three children who died after eating a bat in January. The Mexico-Querétaro highway has been blocked by protestors at the Tepotzotlán toll plaza. Mauritius has closed its international airport in preparation for the category three tropical cyclone forming in the Indian Ocean. The airport will close at 7:10PM local time (3:10PM GMT). A multiple-vehicle crash has occurred on the main route to Atlantic, El Progreso. Five vehicles collided at 92km and were severely damaged, blocking traffic through the area. Pro-Palestine activists will hold a protest near the Archibald Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, Sydney, starting at 1:00 PM local time (2:00 AM GMT) on March 2. They are demanding a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and denouncing Israeli military operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
