Funicular Accident Leaves Fatalities and Injuries

At least three people were killed and around 20 others injured after Lisbon’s popular Gloria funicular derailed and crashed. The hillside tram, a well-known tourist attraction in the Portuguese capital, was heavily damaged in the accident. Emergency crews worked at the scene to free passengers trapped in the wreckage. Advice: - Access may be restricted due to emergency services still operating at the crash site. - Consider taxis, buses, or the metro instead of funiculars in central Lisbon until safety checks are complete. - Heavy traffic and restricted access are expected in the surrounding area. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across 38 provinces through September 2, with the highest risk in Lampang, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Tak, Mae Hong Son, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Nakhon Sawan, Trat, Ranong, and Phang Nga. Authorities warn of flash floods and landslides, particularly in foothill and river-adjacent communities.
