A wildfire has burned approximately 60 hectares in the Mount Bromo area, with active hotspots remaining on steep slopes that are difficult for ground teams to reach. Strong winds and dry conditions may accelerate the spread of the fire. Two firefighting helicopters have been deployed, and authorities are preparing additional weather-modification operations. Tourist access through the Jemplang, Coban Trisula and Senduro entrances has been temporarily closed. Access through Cemoro Lawang and Wonokitri remains open only as far as the Sea of Sand area. Additional closures or changes to sunrise tours, jeep excursions and hiking routes may be announced at short notice. Advice: Confirm access conditions with the national park or tour operator before departure. Do not enter closed areas or attempt to bypass access restrictions. An indefinite strike by Groundforce ground-handling employees remains ongoing at Barcelona–El Prat Airport. The action affects check-in, boarding, baggage loading and unloading, and flight coordination for around 20 airlines. At least 36 flights were canceled during the first two days of the strike, with additional cancellations reported on August 6. Some flights have also operated without checked baggage, although the overall impact at the airport remains limited due to minimum service requirements. Affected airlines may include Air Europa, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, EL AL, Etihad Airways, United Airlines, LOT, ITA Airways, Finnair and others. Further delays, short-notice cancellations, baggage disruptions and missed connections remain possible, particularly during the peak summer travel period. Advice: Check the flight status directly with the airline before traveling to the airport. Arrive earlier than usual and allow additional time for check-in and boarding. Heavy rain and flooding have damaged roads, bridges, power lines and communication infrastructure across parts of Shaanxi. More than 25,000 people were evacuated during the past 24 hours, bringing the total evacuated since July 30 to over 140,000. Localized heavy rain continued on August 6, with particularly intense rainfall reported around Ankang. A national Level-IV flood emergency response remains in effect, and further flash floods, landslides and sudden road closures remain possible even where rainfall has weakened. Advice: Check road, railway and intercity bus conditions before departure. Allow additional travel time and prepare alternative routes. Temperatures near 40°C and record-low Danube levels have reduced output at the Paks nuclear plant. Budapest has switched off decorative lighting, while further energy-saving measures, water restrictions, and disruptions to Danube cruises remain possible.

Severe drought has closed the Burgundy Canal, the Canal Latéral à la Loire and part of the Champagne-Burgundy Canal. Tourist cruises and boat rentals may be cancelled, shortened or replaced by road transfers. Low water levels and dry vegetation are also increasing water restrictions and wildfire risk. Forests, campsites, hiking routes and rural roads may close with little notice.

Vienna has set a new all-time temperature record of 41C as eastern Austria experiences an intense heatwave.

Heavy monsoon rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across eastern Rajasthan from August 6, before spreading into western parts of the state between August 7 and 9. The most severe conditions are forecast for August 7–8, particularly around Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer and Udaipur. The rainfall may cause urban flooding, waterlogged roads, reduced visibility and sudden traffic restrictions. Thunderstorms may also produce lightning and locally strong winds. Delays to road, rail and domestic air travel are possible, although no widespread airport or railway closures have been announced at this stage. Advice: * Check road, rail and flight updates before departure. * Avoid flooded roads, underpasses, rivers and low-lying areas. * Limit outdoor activities during thunderstorms and seek shelter when lightning occurs. * Prepare alternative routes and allow additional travel time.

Multiple wildfires are affecting central and southern Albania amid extreme heat, dry vegetation and locally strong winds. One of the main fires has spread through the Mallakastër area near Rriban and Lofkënd, prompting the temporary evacuation of approximately 15 families and requiring aerial firefighting operations. A further fire has developed near Penkovë in the Selenicë municipality, inland from Vlorë, while additional active or recently contained fires have been reported near Himarë, Gjirokastër, Skrapar and other rural areas. No major airport or national highway closures have been confirmed; however, smoke, emergency operations and rapidly changing fire conditions may cause local road closures and access restrictions. Hot and dry conditions are expected to continue through August 9, increasing the risk of further outbreaks. Advice: * Check local road conditions before traveling through Mallakastër, Selenicë, Gjirokastër or inland areas near Himarë. * Keep vehicle windows closed and limit outdoor activity in areas affected by heavy smoke. * Monitor local updates, as fire conditions and road access may change with little notice.

Typhoon Dolphin is moving toward Okinawa and is expected to approach the Daito Islands on August 6, before passing close to Okinawa’s main island between August 7 and 8. The typhoon may slow down near the region, potentially prolonging strong winds, heavy rainfall, dangerous waves, and rough seas through August 9. Airlines have already announced hundreds of flight cancellations and special ticket arrangements for services operating through Okinawa. Additional flight delays and cancellations are expected, alongside the suspension of ferries and other inter-island transportation. Localized flooding, landslides, power outages and disruptions to tourism services may also occur. Advice: * Check flight and ferry status directly with the operator before leaving for the airport or port. * Consider bringing forward or postponing travel planned between August 6 and 9. * Avoid beaches, coastal roads, marine activities and other exposed areas. * Remain indoors during periods of strong winds and follow evacuation or safety instructions issued by local authorities.

The electricity crisis in Cuba continues after the national power grid collapsed again during restoration efforts from a nationwide blackout. Power has been partially restored in Havana and other areas, but the grid remains unstable and prolonged power outages continue to occur across the country. Disruptions may affect water supply, air conditioning, telecommunications and internet, ATMs, electronic payments, traffic lights, transportation and hotel services. Additional power outages may occur without prior notice in the coming days.
